How to Conquer Clogs Without Drano
Use products from your pantry
Drano is not often a cure-all and can be harmful because of the chemicals. If you have a minor clog, use baking soda and vinegar to fix it. Allow all the standing water to drain before starting the process. Once that is gone, pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by a cup of vinegar. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes. After, flush your pipes with warm water.
Use a plunger
Plungers have become synonymous with toilets, but that is not all they are used for. You can use plungers on your drains to clear out clogs, as well. Make sure to get a plunger that can seal the opening. This will help dislodge any blockage.
Use a plumbing snake
For clogs you can’t clear with your home cleaner or plunger, you can use a tool called a snake. This slender, flexible, drill-like tool maneuvers through the drain. Place the tip of the pipe at the opening of the drain, pushing it through until you reach a block. Wind the snake back and repeat until the clog is cleared.
